CDTS offer a comprehensive service for restoring native grassland using seed
of local origin. By utilising a brush seed harvester to collect seed from a
suitable donor site and then hydroseeding the collected seed on to the receptor
site, CDTS can recreate diverse native habitats in sensitive ecological areas.
The above series of photos demonstrate the process of brush seed harvesting and
restoration in action. The process involves the following sequence of seed
harvesting and hydroseeding techniques:
- Seed collection from carefully selected donor site
- Collected seed
- Preparation of the receptor site
- Application of the seed by hydroseeding
The brush seed harvesting method of establishing native grassland and heathland
can be used on a wide range of sensitive sites. To ensure success we carry out an essential
process of careful selection of a suitable donor site, carefully timed seed collection and
storage, preparation of the receptor site, and application of the seed.
